Using a lubricant can enhance sexual pleasure when used with a condom while also helping to protect against the transmission of STD's and pregnancy. Lubrication supplied by the body can sometimes be insufficient. A lack of natural lubrication for women especially is very normal and common, this can be caused from breast-feeding, pregnancy, pelvic surgery, diabetes, maturity, stress and the contraceptive pill. Using lubricant on the inside and outside of the condom intensifies sensation for both partners allowing for greater movement and sensation.
Oil-Based lubricants should never be used with a latex condom. Oil quickly breaks down the condom and increases the risk of condom breakage and fluid transmission. Even cheap water or silicon based lubricants are safe to use with all condoms and can be reactivated with water or body fluids.
